  Indala and OMNIKEY Partner to Provide Affordable PC-Linked Dual Interface Smart Card Solutions

CardMan® 5121 Contactless/Contact Smart Card Reader and Complementary FlexSmart™ Cards Offered

San Jose, CA; Irvine, CA; and Walluf, Germany (September 27, 2004) OMNIKEY, a leading manufacturer of innovative smart card readers, and INDALA, a leading manufacturer of multi-technology contact and contactless smart cards for physical and network access control, have partnered to offer the affordable dual interface smart card reader, the CardMan® 5121, and complementary FlexSmart™ family of contact and contactless smart cards for enterprise identity management.
The CardMan® 5121 combines the advantages of contact and contactless smart card technology in a single USB desktop device. The unit will read FlexSmart™ contact/contactless chip multi-technology cards. The CardMan® 5121 is based on a 13.56 MHz contactless smart card RFID interface that is compliant with ISO specifications 14443 A and B and 15693. The reader works with a variety of 13.56 MHz contactless smart card protocols including Indala’s MIFARE® and DESFire® products.
With the CardMan® 5121 reader and FlexSmart™ cards, end-users experience the convenience, speed, and security of contactless technology for applications including log-on to Windows, networks, websites, and applications or the secure storage of user names, passwords, and personal information.
