European Campus Card Association (ECCA)

ECCA was founded in 2004 as a designated authoritative organization for the collection and dispersion of information regarding issues in campus card systems. Its main focus is to assist the institutions of higher education in the Member States of the European Union and other European Countries to implement and operate campus card programmes. The association presently facilitates information exchange, by developing European standards where appropriate and by acting as a forum for interaction between the institutions and other agencies with an interest in campus cards. Currently ECCA communicates to all its members on a weekly basis with up to date information on card technology. The ECCA website (www.ecca.ie), is another great means of communication which also maintains a library of reference materials. ECCA communicates frequently with card system experts within higher education who share their knowledge. Currently the association consists of institutions from twelve member states and its expected that this figure will double in the coming year. To date ECCA has hosted three conferences, with the next conference due to be held in Linköpings University in Sweden in June 2006.
