e-Identity Solutions Usher in Return to Revenue Growth for TNS

Date: 18/11/2011

Transaction Network Services TNS -3.87% is celebrating a return to revenue growth within its Telecommunication Services Division, after its unmatched e-Identity solutions helped that part of the business increase revenues by 15.2% to $74.5 million for the third quarter of 2011.

As one of the leading providers of IP and SS7 networks, intelligent IP directory services and roaming enablement platforms, TNS' Telecommunication Services Division is focused on helping carriers expand their reach, evolve their networks and capture new revenue opportunities. Recently TNS has significantly strengthened its e-Identity suite which marries direct-sourced telco data with solutions that reduce routing cost and complexity for communications companies.

Dan Dooley, President of TNS' Telecommunication Services Division, said: "A cornerstone of our e-Identity solutions set is our established Calling Name (CNAM) service which offers both delivery and storage opportunities. We've built CNAM on a foundation of over 800 direct agreements with carriers to utilize their authoritative data for calling name delivery, creating the industry benchmark for coverage and accuracy.

"As a result, an increasing number of carriers are relying on TNS' data and technology to improve their routing efficiencies and reduce their operating costs. TNS recently on-boarded a large tier 1 mobile operator further extending the data coverage of the largest direct-sourced platform in the industry"

TNS' e-Identity solutions also include Name Caller ID from Cequint, which recently announced a new agreement with T-Mobile that will see Name ID become available on a range of T-Mobile handsets. Similar to traditional landline Caller ID, Name ID securely accesses operator-sourced name information managed by TNS, and displays it on the incoming call screen to reveal the name, city and state of previously unknown callers who are not stored in a mobile phone's contacts or address book. This empowers users in a variety of ways, such as saving new contact information directly to their address book, declining unwanted calls, and maximizing the value of their calling plans.

Dooley added: "We continue to augment our capabilities. The combination of TNS' connectivity and data assets with Cequint's OEM technology and carrier partnerships is helping wireless carriers enrich their product offerings and improve the customer experience. The unmatched accuracy and coverage of TNS' e-Identity solutions helps carriers increase their profitability through fewer calls to customer care, reduced churn, and increased loyalty. Beyond cost savings, TNS e-Identity solutions form a basis for the creation and adoption of new services."

In addition to CNAM and Name ID, TNS' e-Identity solutions include its Carrier ENUM service, an IP registry system designed to empower operators with all the regulatory and carrier information necessary to terminate calls, picture mail and text messages to the proper location in the most cost effective manner. Number Portability services deliver essential network and database capabilities to route calls to ported numbers and manage porting operations easily with speed, accuracy and security. Additionally, TNS' Toll-Free Database service enables local carriers to provide subscribers with access to 800, 888 and 866 numbers for toll-free routing.

Dooley said: "We recognize the role our e-Identity solutions play in returning us to growth and continue to invest heavily in this area. We expect to launch an innovative product later this year, which will deploy our extensive resources in a complementary market, benefiting carriers, new customers and subscribers alike."

TNS operates the largest, independent SS7 network in North America, providing network, database and next generation services to over 800 telecommunications companies around the world.
