UK/Euro Libraries Contract with Vubis Smart

Date: 05/05/2008

Infor Library and Information Solutions has announced new contracts in the UK and Europe. Scottish Borders Council has gone live with the vendor’s Vubis Smart system in 12 libraries. Infor said the system also will support six mobile libraries.

Scottish Borders Council has a database of 180,000 bibliographical records, 307,000 item records, and 42,000 borrowers. The system includes Community Information data, as well as details of mobile library routes and stops. The mobile functions are part of a development specifically for Scottish Borders Council, which allows better statistical information on the mobile library service to be gathered, as well as providing better administrative functions for mobile library users. Scottish Borders Council is also using the smartcard software shared with other Scottish libraries for user identification and registration.

Additionally, the Landelijk Bureau Art.1, a national organization that prevents and fights discrimination to ensure equal treatment of all, in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, also has chosen Vubis Smart. Art.1 chose Vubis Smart following a year in which the organization carefully evaluated multiple library automation solutions. A primary requirement was the complete integration of library management functions and processes.
