Smartpay Launches E-commerce Payment Solution
Smart Pay, New Zealand's leading merchant services provider today announced the latest addition to its suite of services, an e-commerce solution called the "SmartPay Payments Gateway" which allows its customers to accept payments from internet based web sites.
SmartPay Managing Director Ian Bailey says the new service provides customers with a one-stop-shop solution for all of their payment requirements including EFTPOS terminals, both interfaced using Syncro and standalone, card-not-present and online transactions.
"The new payments gateway has a range of innovative reporting features that allow the merchant to identify and manage their web traffic and payments."
"We have also adopted a transparent pricing structure based on actual usage that eliminates hidden or unexpected costs. Some of our competitors require customers to estimate volumes. This creates one of two scenarios; paying for capacity that is never used, or under-estimating and incurring penalty rates. Both of which we view as unacceptable."
The new payments gateway is made possible by the purchase of an industrial grade, international bank security and payment card industry compliant Postilion (transactional) switch. It is linked to an internet payments gateway service which was specifically developed for SmartPay, says Bailey.
"We are able to offer our customers access to world-class transaction processing, at competitive prices. Our strategy is to provide our merchant customers with an increasing range of value-added services that will help them enhance the operation of their business."
"By consolidating services with us, our customers can do more with less, improving profitability. The SmartPay payments gateway and its deliberate pricing is yet another example of delivering to our strategy."
Increasingly, merchants are supplementing sales made at "bricks and mortar" outlets with mail order and online sales. Meeting payment card industry security standards is of increasing importance, says Bailey.
"In 2008 there were over 180 million internet-based payment transactions, with this number increasing by 20% per annum. SmartPay is poised to grab a share of this market in the next 12 months.
"Online commerce never sleeps. Our system operates around the clock and has the capability of processing all major credit cards.
"This new service further supports our growth objectives and will assist in meeting our operating profit target for the current financial year."
