Philippine E-Merchants Accept China UnionPay Cards

Date: 29/07/2008

Philippines-based e-merchants can now tap into the fast-growing Chinese economy through the Mozcom PayEasy online payment system.

Mozcom PayEasy, a Philippines-based processor, now allows its affiliated merchants to accept online payment by China UnionPay (CUP) ATM-debit cards.

Chinese customers pay Philippines e-merchants in Renminbi (RMB), and PayEasy converts the payments into Philippines Pesos in real-time, says Dick Chiang, Mozcom PayEasy’s chief operating officer and chief technology officer.

CUP is the official, domestic inter-bank network in the People’s Republic of China. Its domestic member banks have issued over 1.5 billion ATM cards in China.

In the Philippines, some ATM networks such as BancNet already accept UnionPay cards. Retailers which accept UnionPay cards include such as SM Prime Holdings' department stores, Super Sale, Watson's, Sports Central, and Toy Kingdom.

Payment methods accepted by Mozcom PayEasy include Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, JCB, and Diners Club credit cards; BancNet and MegaLink ATM cards; PayPal; Western Union; over-the-counter bank deposits; Globe G-Cash; and Malaysia's iPay88.
