PAX Technology Receives PCI-PED Certification

Date: 10/12/2007

Pax Technology, a leading provider of innovative electronic payment terminal announces the PCI-PED certification for the SP30, its new state-of-the-art PIN Pad device. The SP30 PIN Pad is powered by the USIP® secure microcontroller from Innova Card, a provider of secure hardware and software solutions for trusted terminals.

This new generation replaces the former PP20 series and has been designed to provide maximum flexibility for cards transactions. The device features a serial and USB port for seamless connection with a countertop POS unit.

The SP30 is fully PCI-PED certified and also received EMV 1 & 2 certifications as well as PBOC accreditation required by the Chinese banking system. Additionally, the SP30 fully addresses the contactless payment market by supporting both M-Stripe and M-chip transaction protocols as well as 14443 A/B interfaces.

USIP® is a secure 32-bit Flash microcontroller that integrates tamper-resistant key storage memory with instant erase capability, a true random number generator and a memory controller that provides ‘on-the-fly’ encryption of external SDRAM and Flash.

Furthermore, the device features a wide range of dedicated interfaces including USB host and device, secure keypad
controller, smart card and LCD interface. USIP® performs SPA/DPA resistant cryptographic operations like AES, 3DES and RSA.

Assisted by on-chip environmental and tampering sensors, it makes this single-chip Pinpad/POS solution easier to certify and already comply with the upcoming PCI-PED 2.0 certification.

The SP30 is one of the most reliable and secure PIN Pad designed to meet the demanding PCI- PED requirements and to match the high level of interoperability required by the payment authorities.

According to Gregory Guez, Managing Director Asia, “Pax leads the Chinese payment market. When they decided to develop such an advanced product as the SP30, they went through an extensive and demanding selection process. We are very proud of this achievement and foresee a long term collaboration."

“We are very excited in working with Innova Card, SP30 PIN Pad powered by USIP® will further widen our PCI certified product offering portfolio” stated Tiger Nie, President of PAX.
