Oberthur wins French health contract
Oberthur Technologies has been selected by Agence des Systèmes d’Information de santé Partagés de Santé (ASIP Santé) to develop and deliver 1.5 million smart cards to health professionals in France.
The company started rolling out the new generation CPS3 cards in February 2011, replacing the CPS2ter cards issued to health professionals that were set to expire that month. The latest cards enable ASIP Santé to integrate new functionalities and specifications compliant with European standards.
The CPS3 smart card embeds the IAS ECC application which permits digital signature as well as user identification and authentication. It will also be used for physical contactless identification. It embeds the CPS2Ter application developed by Oberthur for the ASIP and is common criteria certified. Oberthur says this application will facilitate migration from the previous smart card and ensure the compatibility of the new card with current medical applications.
There are 16 different card designs according to the specialty of the professional, such as generalist, pharmacist, nurse and so on. Oberthur is in charge of supplying the full solution; from product development to security certification, personalisation and delivery.
