OCF
Open Card Framework. Project initiated by IBM and Sun to define a software architecture (service components and API) capable of providing different smart card reader and smart card interoperability. The project attracted several smart card companies (Gemplus, Bull, Schlumberger, SCM Microsystems) and card issuers such as Visa International, and mostly covers Java environments.

OEM
Original Equipment Manufacturer.
Off-line
A smart card transaction when electronic terminals are not connected to central computer system. Authorisation without checking cardholder's details at source.
On-line
A smart card transaction on electronic terminals permanently connected to a central computer system that is on-line to the card account. Enabling cardholder details to be checked.
Open Platform
Specifications for issuance of multi-application cards.
Open Security:
Environment that does not provide environment sufficient assurance that applications and equipment are protected against the introduction of malicious logic prior to or during the operation of a system.
Open Systems
A card system that involves multiple issuers of cards that can be used to access services or purchase products at multiple service providers. An open system requires the processing of interchange transactions, usually by an independent system operator
Operational Data Security:
The protection of data from either accidental or unauthorized, intentional modification, destruction, or disclosure during input, processing, or output operations.
Operations Security:
Operations Security: 1) The process of denying adversaries information about friendly capabilities and intentions by identifying, controlling, and protecting indicators associated with planning and conducting military operations and other activities. 2) An analytical process by with the U.S. Government and its supporting contractors can deny to potential adversaries information about capabilities and intentions by identifying, controlling, and protecting evidence of the planning and execution of sensitive activities and operations.
