NHS business service authority selects ID data for 10 Million plastic card solutions.
The NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) has awarded a two-year contract to ID Data Cards Ltd, a member of the TALL Group of Companies, for the provision of a complete plastic card solution. Under the agreement, ID Data will handle all production and fulfilment requirements for more than 10 million cards each year including the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
Following a competitive tender process, the contract was awarded with ID Data becoming the NHSBSA’s sole card supplier across its range of healthcare solutions. In addition to the EHIC, the company will also be responsible for the Tax Credit Exemption Card and the NHSBSA Medical Cards.
ID Data will undertake all aspects of card production and fulfilment for the NHSBSA, including design, manufacturing, personalisation and mailing from its purpose-built, high-security plant in Hampshire. The operation will meet strict European specifications for the manufacture of plastic cards.
A data file containing all new requirements will be electronically sent to the production facility on a twice-daily basis, with ID Data processing up to 100,000 cards per day during peak periods. This will include more than four million Tax Credit Exemption Cards that are issued annually, as well as high volumes of EHIC in the build up to popular holiday seasons.
Brendan Brown, Head of Operations at the NHS Business Services Authority commented: “ID Data Cards has demonstrated its ability to provide a high quality card solution in a responsive and cost effective manner. We needed a card partner that could not only meet the precise needs of the NHSBSA, but more importantly those of the general public.”
John Cooke, Business Development Director of ID Data Cards said: “This contract is recognition of our longstanding experience and expertise within the public sector across Europe. We work closely with our customers to create complete solutions and we are becoming card partner of choice with an increasing number of organisations.”
