Hypercom Introduces Optimum L4150 Multi-Lane Payment Terminal
Hypercom Corporation introduced the Optimum L4150, a new top-of-the-line global payment terminal for multi-lane retailers. The PCI PED-approved unit features a new 64K color glass capacitive touch screen that provides the market's brightest and most legible interface for effective interactive advertising at the point of sale. The L4150's video-capable 200 MHz processor ensures that the terminal can support bandwidth-intensive graphics and animations as well as high-speed transaction handling without compromising performance.
Other Hypercom-exclusive engineering advantages include an advanced security architecture that simplifies hardware and application authentication, several PCI-PED-compliant privacy options that eliminate the need for add-on physical privacy shields that interfere with terminal usage by the consumer, and a depot-upgradeable capability that allows contactless and EMV smart card readers to be integrated into the L4150 either before or after delivery without increasing the footprint of the device.
"The L4150 equips large retailers around the globe with the brightest, most usable, and most future-proof multi-lane payment terminal on the market as well as the newest security technologies," said Tony Fernandez , Vice President, Multi-Lane, Unattended and Peripheral Products, Hypercom Corporation. "This unit positions Hypercom to expand our multi-lane footprint globally."
Key features of the L4150 include:
High performance with a 200 MHz 32-bit Intel XScale processor that not only drives fast payment transaction processing but also ensures that the terminal has the internal resources to drive retailers' marketing programs.
Extra-bright, hardened glass capacitive touch screen, providing scratch resistance, exceptional touch accuracy and high-quality electronic signatures. The 64K color 5.7" ? VGA active matrix TFT screen presents crisp displays of animation, logos and other information, while a unique screen assembly delivers a level of brightness that is unmatched by competitive units.
An exclusive bi-directional, dual-sided magnetic stripe reader that significantly reduces the need for customers to swipe their cards more than once and speeds them through the checkout lane.
Several unique PCI PED security options that simplify deployment and security compliance, including the ability to embed a polarizing filter into the display to thwart viewing by anyone other than the cardholder. These options allow retailers to operate the L4150 in a PCI-PED-compliant manner without add-on privacy shields that may hinder terminal operation.
Industry-leading security including full compliance with Payment Card Industry (PCI), Interac and EMV requirements for global deployments. In addition, Hypercom's proprietary HyperSafe32 security architecture enables secure and frequent screen changes without requiring manufacturer intervention to authenticate each change to prevent tampering.
ADA compliant when connected to Hypercom's PCI-PED approved P1310 PIN pad.
Flexible communications including built-in RS-232 and powered or non-powered USB connectivity, and optional Ethernet, which allow retailers to switch POS systems without replacing their payment terminals. A USB-Host option provides for future expandability.
Configurable payment choices including an optional contactless RF reader for contactless payment cards, plus an optional integrated EMV 1 and 2 approved smart card readers for global markets and WIC card acceptance in the U.S. Both of these are fully integrated into the terminal plastics, conserving counter space while also preserving the sleek appearance of the device.
Backward compatibility with the Optimum L4100, Hypercom's first-generation multi-lane color terminal, enabling L4100 users to use the same applications, cables, power supplies and mounting to migrate to the L4150.
Fast, easy integration with all leading electronic cash register systems using Hypercom's Forms Processing Engine (FPE) software, simplifying the process and reducing the time required to interface with local PCs/POS terminals.
The Optimum L4150 is now available for shipment globally.
