HID Global Announces Three Fargo Card Printers/Encoders with New Capabilities
HID Global today announced the introduction of three new printers/encoders: the Fargo DTC400e Printer/Encoder, the Fargo Persona® C30e Printer/Encoder and the Fargo Persona M30e ID Card Printer. The Fargo E Series printers introduce new capabilities and features such as thin card printing, rewritable printing, a Linux® driver, and enhanced technology card encoding options into the Fargo printer portfolio. “These products represent opportunities for organizations to implement new card applications in growing and diverse markets,” said Alan Fontanella, Fargo Vice President of Market Strategies. “All three products are affordable, versatile, reliable and easy to operate."
The DTC400e introduces card rewrite capabilities. It can print, erase and reprint cards with a rewritable surface up to 200 times. This feature is especially useful for companies printing visitor badges or schools issuing student IDs, but is also popular for use in customer loyalty programs. The DTC400e can print thin (9 mil) cards as well as conventional 20 to 30 mil cards. The thinner cards are used frequently in transportation applications and health care card programs. In addition, the DTC400e can run on either Microsoft Windows or Linux operating systems. The DTC400e also features technology card encoding capabilities, single and dual-sided printing options, and single-side technology card encoding options. Organizations can add Ethernet connectivity for networked printing applications.
Like the DTC400e, the C30e has rewrite and thin card printing capabilities and can operate on a Linux operating system. The C30e also has technology card encoding capabilities, single and dual-sided printing options, and single-side technology card encoding options. Organizations also can add Ethernet connectivity for networked printing applications. “These printers provide value to emerging markets that are embracing smart card applications, but rely on more cost-sensitive printing solutions,” says Fontanella.
The Persona M30e ID Card Printer produces monochrome photo ID cards in one of seven colors, without the erase and rewrite function, for companies on a tighter budget. By adding an optional magnetic stripe encoding module, even the smallest companies can produce access cards instantly. “Never before has a printer manufacturer packed so many powerful features into an entry-level printer line,” noted Fontanella. Some of the many market opportunities for the enhanced line of printers include transportation, loyalty/retail, health care, education, membership, visitor and temporary badging, and state and local government. All of these added features make the DTC400e and C30e Card Printer/Encoders an attractive option for end users looking to purchase flexible equipment to leverage across multiple areas of their organizations. Fontanella sums it up saying, “When budgets are tight, end users want to stretch their funds as far as possible, and with the versatile DTC400e and C30e Card Printer/Encoders, this can be accomplished.”
