ASK and IDECO to create a joint venture in South Africa
ASK and IDECO announced that they have entered into an agreement for the creation of a joint venture company based in South Africa.
ASK, based in Sophia Antipolis, and IDECO, a specialist in identity management solutions using biometric and smart card technologies, bring their experience and expertise together to create a major player in contactless technology and applications in the southern countries of Africa and particularly in South Africa.
“IDECO is a Systems Integrator which is highly involved in secure documents and biometric solutions in southern Africa, while ASK is a leading player in contactless technology for transport and identity, says Mr. Bruno Moreau, ASK C.E.O. “This deal makes sound business sense for both parties and is driven both by the need to offer proximity services to our current and future clients and to offer them personalization solutions.”
The ASK and IDECO relationship has already been successful in landing the Gautrain ticketing project which was launched during 2010 FIFA World Cup.
“IDECO is a major player in biometric access control for strategic businesses in the country’s economy” says Mr. Vhonani Mufamadi, IDECO C.E.O. “the ASK-IDECO joint venture will benefit from ASK’s manufacturing know-how in products dedicated to transport and identity and from IDECO’s local market knowledge.”
ASK-IDECO will address the transportation, access control and secure documents’ sectors to offer end to end solutions to clients, from the database management, to the hardware and software components of a contactless ticketing system including contactless smart cards and tickets.
